Karen has danced since age 4 completing Ballet, Jazz, Hip-Hop exams including Solo Seal. Competed in competitions around NZ gaining many medals, trophies and awards. Trained full time at the New Zealand School of Dance and London Contemporary dance school. Performed as a Cheerleader for Kiss FM, appeared as a dancer in TV1 Lotto ad, worked with renowned Choreographers touring with Hairy Maclary and the Fringe Festival. Worked in London at West End Shows such as Rocky Horror, Annie, Pajama Game. Adjudicated at Competitions in NZ. Karen gained Distinction for Royal Academy of Dance Teaching Certificate 3 years study. She has now been teaching for 20 years both in NZ and Abroad.
Originally from Taupo Charlotte danced since age 4 under Mrs. MacRae amd Leanne Umbers, completing all her exams to Solo Seal. Winning at competitions around the country most weekends. Charlotte has danced with Candy Lane for years. Modelled, Choreographed and ran her own Pre-School dance program. Performed for many years in various events. Has been living in Sydney dancing open classes with Sydney Dance Company and has now returned home with her family. Charlotte is also a clothing designer with her own clothing label Mabel Main Vintage Clothing.
Nathanael is from Hamilton, although he spent some of his school years at Tauhara College, where he taught Dance NZMade Crew dances. He has been dancing for 10 years with his passion being Hip-Hop dance. Nathanael loves to share his passion for dance with others in a positive environment where students can gain knowledge and confidence. His speciality is in – Dancehall, voguing, and Baile funk. He has spent the last few year teaching Hip Hop choreography for various non-competitive and competitive hip-hop groups around the North Island and internationally.
Georgia is in her final year at College as Head Student. She has also completed all her dance exams in Contemporary, and at Advanced Level in Jazz. She has choreographed many routines for Dance NZ Made and now also for Dance HQ. Georgia is extremely organized, focused and driven to achieve not only the best for herself but also to nurture her students to be their best in a positive way. Having taught at Dance HQ for the past 3 years, she is a respected and admired teacher amongst the students.
Sophie has danced since she was 3 years in Ballet and Jazz. She has passed her exams up to Intermediate Ballet and Jazz level. Sophie also competes solos in Jazz, Contemporary, Hip-Hop, Classical and Neo. She has won many awards, medals and trophies. She has also Choreographed solos and groups for Dance HQ and also Dance NZ Made which much success. Sophie is a valued member of Dance HQ senior Contemporary/Jazz and Hip-Hop Troupes. Sophie loves teaching our junior dancers and hopes to inspire and encourage them on their journey.
Sophie has danced since she was in Pre-School. She trains in Ballet, Jazz, Contemporary and Hip-Hop and has passed all her exams up to Intermediate Level for Ballet and Jazz, and Advanced Contemporary and Hip-Hop. Sophie competes around the North Island with solos which she does extremely well with, having recently been awarded a nomination to a National Competition in the South Island. Sophie is also a valued member of our Dance HQ Senior Troupes in both Hip-Hop and Contemporary/Jazz. Sophie has been teaching for Dance HQ for a few years and is experienced in Choreographing Duos and Solos for Dance NZMade. Her hard working and dedicated worth ethic make her an excellent role model for her students to look up to and be inspire by.
Aja is a Senior Student, who has completed all her contemporary exams in NZAMD, and will be sitting her Solo Diploma this year. She is Advanced level in Ballet, Jazz and Hip-Hop. Gaining a Nomination for her Hip-Hop exam 2023, Distinction in all 3 genres, Finals for Dance NZMade, Pacanz nomination with Dance HQ Troupe are just a few highlights. 2024 Aja won the local Championship and received a special award for her Hip-Hop personality. Aja has been teaching for a few years now both in college and at Dance HQ. Her Choreography is amazing always, in groups and solos. Aja has a patient imposition and full of praise and encouragement.
Tori has an extensive background in dance. Having passed all exams, competed in competitions in all genres, she also completed a Diploma in Dance after full time study at Whitireia, Wellington, where she also taught at Pump Studios. We are lucky to have her in Taupo, and at Dance HQ. Tori has been teaching now for over 10 years. She is talented and versatile in all genres including Acro which she has set up from her many years training as a gymnast also. Tori has gone on to compete in CrossFit competitions which she is also smashing. This year she is working toward a degree in Youth Counseling, while juggling her work as a youth counselor and teaching competition work for Dance HQ.
